The late summer hedgerow has much to offer in terms of tasty berries, however you have to share the spoils with the local wildlife which will be busy fuelling up for the cold winter ahead. If you’d prefer you fruit closer to hand – where it can be protected from other hungry mouths- the are easy to to grow at home. We’ve selected two tasty selection, guranteed to give you juicy berries: Blackberry Black Butte is a commercially grown variety popular for it’s huge fruits – it is the world largest blackberry with fruits weighing up to 10gms each and measuring 5cm. Dewberry, a small bramble closely related to the Blackberry with fruit very similar in appearance although have fewer drupes. The fruits have tart flavour which works extremely well combine with other fruits in pies and puddings, or made into jams and preserves.
