Mini Orchard Collection
This collection allows you to benefit from modern breeding and have a bumper disease resistant crop!
Apple Cybele is one of the best mid-season apples, being ready for picking in September. The firm, sweet, white flesh of Cybele has a most attractive red skin. Its blossom tends to resist frost, leading to a fine crop of scab-resistant apples.
Pear Verdi has Doyenne du Comice as one of its parents and so we expect great things of Verdi - and we are not disappointed. The juicy and aromatic green fruits, attractively blushed with red-brown, become ready in early October and will keep until around Christmas.
Plum Lizzie is an Asian-type plum was actually bred in East Anglia. Its blossom withstands frost, leading to a fine crop of red-flushed and red-fleshed juicy and sweet fruits in mid July.
A touch of the Exotic
You can grow your own succulent peaches and nashi pears in most UK gardens!
Peach Avalon Pride is highly recommended for UK growing! Even though an odd leaf may show signs of peach leaf curl, it does not spread to other leaves. The delicious, large fruits, produced in August, are full of juice and Avalon Pride is also less susceptible to frost damage.
Nashi Pear is also known as the Asian pear and has the shape of an apple, but the texture and flavour of a pear. Bite into its flesh and you will be surprised at just how heavy with sweet, tasty juice this pear can be – perfect for fruit salad. Well worth growing and a real treat!
Fig Ronde de Bordeaux
A dramatic variety, Ronde de Bordeaux yields figs with a shiny black skin and deep red flesh with a wonderfully rich flavour. Early, sweet and so tasty, it will do best on a south-facing aspect in the south and in a greenhouse elsewhere.
