Much of today’s breeding focuses upon developing new varieties which combine ease-of-growth, superb fruits and resistance to common diseases. We’ve picked a selection of our favourites.
•Pear ‘Goldember’ – Also known by its breeding name ‘Delsane’ – this variety produces an almost round fruit with a smooth skin and a non-gritty flesh. It still retains that sweet and juicy pear flavour.
•Plum ‘Beauty’ – A cross between an Asian and European plum, this variety crops early, from mid-July. Expect high yields of purple fruits with an outstanding taste and texture.
•Apple ‘Cybele’ – Ready for picking in September, this is one of the best mid-season selections. With a firm white, crisp flesh and smooth red skin with good scab-resistance, this attractive apple has it all.
Buy the collection for just £45.85 and save £25 on the individual prices. Apple ‘Cybele’ and pear ‘Goldember’ are available for just £21.95, while plum ‘Beauty’ costs just £26.95. Delivery from late November 2011.
